History about us:

Schierer & Popp Jewelers has been serving the Chicagoland area since 1955. 

Their expert watchmaker specializes in the repair of high grade and antique timepieces.  Jewelers throughout the United States would send their watch repairs to them for their honesty  and expertise which still exists today. 

Custom one of a kind jewelery pieces are being designed in the same shop.  The store, located at 3912 N. Cicero Ave. Chicago was opened in April 1955 by two brothers, Robert and Elmer Schierer and their friend Frank Popp.  The brothers were members of a family of jewelers.  Their father owned and operated his own store in Downtown Chicago until its closing in the Great Depression. Frank, a watchmaker was a graduate of Elgin watch college. 

Together, the three formed a partnership resulting i a most unique Portage Park business. 

All of them brought in their children to learn the trade.  Not all stayed, but certainly learned valuable lessons that have brought them much success in life.  From 1955 until Robert's death in 1983 the three men operated the quality jewelery store and watch repair business.  Now following in her father Robert's footsteps, Donna Schierer Calderon and her Husband Lorenzo Calderon and their three children carry on the tradition. 

Donna Schierer Calderon is a Graduate Gemologist and a member of The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. 

Lorenzo is an expert watchmaker and is also the son of a watchmaker. 

As recently as 2008 their son Robert Calderon graduated from the Lititz Watch Technicum and is WOSTEP  (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program) Certified.
